Christmas eve 2008 saw Hiromi Uehara return to her hometown of Hamamatsu to play a special concert for all her local fans & family.
Seeing as she is sponsored by Yamaha, & Aki & her friends really enjoy her music, we all really wanted to go & see her & her band in action.
Aki had to work that day, so I met her in town around 7pm, but not before stopping off for a beer in a local extablishment..
& checking out the 'Illuminations'. It's the last year that this tree will be put up in Hamamatsu due to the expansion of the department store next to it.. pretty sad as it's very beautiful to watch as it changes through its thousands of colour combinations & it really does add to the awesome atmosphere of Christmas time.
I met up with Aki at the concert hall, we all donned our santa hats, I met her boss & then we all took our seats for what was to be a pretty spectacular concert. Hiromi's style of music isn't really my cup of tea, but Hiromi & her three accompanying musicians are really absolute masters of their craft. It's just incredible how people can create music like that.
In other news, Aki has recently decided to join her friends in their hobby of golf.
We went out to the driving range which Todd and I had been to a few years before & we belted the crap out of a few hundred balls together. Below is my 'Ichiro' pose.. I'm lining up for another homo run. (That's the shot you make when you imagine there's a homo on the run & you try to ping him on the scone) :-)
Aki is going to make a pretty excellent golfer I think. It was only her second time to try this frustrating 'sport' out & she has no trouble at all at hitting the ball well.
